ABOUT OUR OWNERS

Double Creek Crossing owners outdoor event venue near College Station

Ronnie and Leah Smith’s love for Caldwell, TX and each other goes way back. Before opening Double Creek Crossing in 2009, they grew up in Caldwell to eventfully marry in 1974. Living in North Texas, Ronnie served as a BNSF Railway dispatcher, while Leah lived her life as a nurse and a mother to three beautiful children, Jennifer, Jerry, and Kelsey.  Once their children were happily married, they decided it was time for them to think about their future. Both born and raised in Caldwell they always had hoped to return to their quaint hometown community.

After planning her children’s weddings and the blessing of inheriting land from her Aunt Jennie and Uncle Walter Lightsey of Caldwell, Leah researched Burleson and Brazos County outdoor wedding venues. In doing so, it sparked a new passion, and they knew it was time to head home to Caldwell to follow their dream of opening a one-of-a-kind event venue.

Double Creek Crossing broke ground in 2009 and hasn’t slowed down since. With its serene atmosphere, the venue attracted many brides to the first Open House in April 2010. Quickly after, Double Creek Crossing opened its doors (and heart) to host its first wedding in May 2010 with 175 guests.  Averaging 25-30 weddings a year, Double Creek Crossing continues to turn dreams into memories to all that step foot on the event grounds.

Ronnie and Leah agree – It has been a delight to serve the community of Caldwell, Brazos County, and other surrounding counties.  Their dream is that their children will continue to live out the legacy of Double Creek Crossing: turning brides’ dreams into memories.
